FY ’06 Budget

• Provided slight increase in Chapter 70 education aid for the Clinton Schools ($8,894,104)

 

FY ’07 Budget

• Provided a major 11 percent increase in Chapter 70 education funding for the Clinton Schools ($9,908,530)
• Secured a $6,600,000 increase in the Commonwealth’s Special Education Circuit Breaker to help communities absorb the costs associated with Special Education.

 
 

Local Aid 

FY ’07 Budget

• Lifted the cap on lottery aid (local aid) to Massachusetts cities and towns, providing for a major 22 percent increase in local aid for the Town of Clinton ($2,710,934)

 
 

In the Community 

• In both the FY’06 and FY’07 budgets, preserved $500,000 in funding for the Town as compensation for hosting the MWRA wastewater treatment facility
• Helped secure a $770,700 Community Development Action Grant to upgrade critical infrastructure in downtown Clinton

 
 

Senior Property Tax Relief 

• Advocated for the expansion of tax cuts for senior homeowners by increasing property assessment limits eligible for tax credits

 
 

Utility Relief 

• Voted for the H.E.A.T Bill, which included tax breaks for home heating fuel costs, energy efficiency tax credits and $20 million in energy assistance for low income families, seniors, and the disabled
