About Me

Hi, I’m Rick Chandler and I would like to introduce myself to everyone. First and foremost, I am NOT a lawyer or a politician. I have proudly served America as a hard working engineer and civil servant for over 32 years. I specialize in solving problems! Now that I am retired, I want to give back something to my home state of Alabama.

I was born in Birmingham and raised up in Mobile before launching out into the world. I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from South Alabama, and later a MS in Logistics Engineering from FIT. I have been happily married to the most wonderful woman in the world for over 44 years. We’ve been blessed with two remarkable sons over that time, along with the recent addition of our first grandson.

Over my lifetime I have lived in many different places and met and worked with countless numbers of people. I have also lived in Montgomery, Irondale, and now Huntsville, (which we have made our forever home). Additionally, we have lived in Florida (Orlando, Panama City, Oveido, and Clearwater), Washington (Olympia), and Oklahoma (McAlester). I have held numerous positions to include Project Engineer, Systems Engineer, Chief Engineer, Project Director, Technical Director, Science Advisor, and Director of Advanced Technologies. At different times, I have worked for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Missile Defense Agency.

The reason I’ve listed my past engineering positions is to illustrate my proven history of identifying and solving problems, not just creating new laws to add to the staggering volumes currently in existence. I've been a Republican all my life but due to their recent shenanigans, I've decided it's time for a change. I'm presently retired, an avid supporter of law enforcement, a member of the NRA, and a huge college football fan.

I strongly believe the citizens of District 3 deserve a full-time state senator. I am looking to defeat an ultra conservative Republican incumbent of 16 years who has continuously harmed the state's growth and stripped away individual citizen's liberties. I truly believe I can significantly improve lives in Alabama, so I will give it my best shot.

If any of this interests you, please read the other issues, with potential solutions I would like to offer up.
