Since 1990, the richest one-tenth of 1% have stolen our nation's wealth from us!
This dark red line should be flat! In less than 30 years, they took everything for themselves and left us with nothing.
Can you see the bright green and bright pink lines near the bottom of this graph? You can barely see them, right? That is the bottom 90% of Americans. Over 120 Million Households that have been left behind.
They stole our wealth from us! We MUST take it back! But, how?
In video games, when a player reaches max level, they stop leveling. But in the real world, we don’t restrict achievement like this. We allow you to concentrate wealth and power to obscene and abberant levels that rival the richest, most powerful kings in history. We don’t have to allow this. This concentration of wealth and power is dangerous to individual liberty and to the public good over all. It is the root of all evil. You cannot serve God and wealth.
To combat power inflation in games, designers regularly implement changes to the mechanics in order to “squish” the gains that players can achieve. In online competitve games, this is often referred to as a “stats squish”. The ideas is to “scale down” high level players in order to make room for new content and abilities.
Think of any video game, or tabletop game that you’ve played. As you advance, it gets harder and harder to level up. There is always some element in the game that taxes your progress the further you get. If you played any game where this wasn’t the case – where you had a small number of “god-tier” players that just “bodied” everyone else, you would call the game broken, uninstall it, and ask for a refund from Steam.
Why do we continue to play this broken game in real life? It's time we rebalance the mechanics.
My plan taxes the net worth of the richest 1% of Americans and redistributes it to the rest of us. Under my plan you will get a large weekly payment if you are in the bottom 90% of Americans.
We are going to take it from the rich, under the threat of extreme criminal penalties for tax avoidance and evasion. The richest 1% will comply, or they will be hunted down like the demonspawn that they are.
The "Mother of All Stat Squishes"
We must rebalance the distribution of wealth and power to all Americans.
Over the next 16 years, my plan provides for:
- Universal Basic Income for the Bottom 90% of Americans.
- $28 Trillion of Wealth Transfer to the Bottom 50% of Americans.
- $14 Trillion of Wealth Transfer to the Middle 40% of Americans.
- Funding for “Medicare for All” to the Tune of $8.5 Trillion.
- Funding for Community Social Programs to the Tune of $5.7 Trillion.
If you are worth less than $1,000,000, you will gain $250,000 over the next 16 years.
If you are worth less than $63,000 you will gain $420,000 over the next 16 years.
If you are worth less than $1 Million you will get a check every single week under my plan.
Under my plan, if your net worth is below $63,000 you will get a $1,000 check every single week for the first two and a half years. That covers half of all Americans. Over time the payments will fall, but not below $250 – even after 16 years.
If your net worth is below $1 million but above $63,000, you’ll get over $500 every single week for the first two years, and after 16 years this will fall to just under $200 a week.
What would you do with $500 more each week?
Would you worry about childcare as much? What about your health? Would you buy nice organic food for your family? Would you start a business? Open up a coffeeshop? Provide a play space for kids in your neighborhood? Would you paint more? Write more? Work on that next-level rap album? What would you do with an extra $500 per week?
If it sounds too good to be true, just remember that this is how much they have already stolen from you! All we’re doing is taking back what is rightfully ours. The money is there, it is just in the hands of the wrong people. America belongs to the 99%!
So, how does it work? #
One of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of being a game designer, is designing for fair systems which allow all players to flourish. We do this by developing automatic levers which exhibit emergent properties and behaviors based on player choices, but which are bounded by statistical constraints. Sometimes very simple rules systems can create quite complex behavior.
Before I describe the mechanics and rules systems at play, it is important to understand how the government splits up the “net worth” of “households” into percentile “tranches”. Depending on how much wealth your household has, you might be in the top 1% or the bottom 50%. I’m sure you’ve heard these terms before.
These categories are important. They are:
- The Top 0.01% – the richest of the rich. The three-comma club. Billionaires and hundred-millionares sit here.
- The Top 0.09% – Rich by all measures. Most have between $10 million and $100 millionare.
- The Top 9% – Well off. Upper middle class. Between $1 million and $10 million.
- The Top 40% – The “middle class”. Up to $1 million in wealth.
- The Bottom 50% – Everyone else. Up to $65,000 in wealth.
My plan sets a tax rate, which must be paid each fiscal quarter depending on the difference between a household's net worth, and the median net worth of the lower percentile tranche below it. This law does not tax the bottom 90% of Americans.
Here are the effective tax rates per tranche:
| Percentile Tranche | Effective Tax Rate | Net Worth Floor |
|---|---|---|
| Top 0.01% | 6.5% | $24,679,482 |
| Top 0.09% | 1.35% | $5,193,007 |
| Top 9% | 0.8% | $942,943 |
| Middle 40% | 0% | $63,079 |
| Bottom 50% | 0% | $0 |
For example, how much would we take from a billionare worth $666 billion?
As the demonspawn billionare that you are, you want to know how much we are going to take back from you each quarter in the first year of my plan. So you look to the tranches and see you fit in the “Top 0.01%” with the rest of the demon class and so your tax rate is 6.5%.
| Quarter | Net Worth | Taxable Worth | Tax Assessed | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 | $666,000,000,000 | $665,975,320,518 | $43,288,395,834 | |
| Q2 | $622,711,604,166 | $622,686,924,685 | $40,747,650,105 | |
| Q3 | $582,236,954,062 | $582,212,274,580 | $37,843,797,848 | |
| Q4 | $544,393,156,214 | $544,368,476,732 | $35,383,950,988 |
This demonic billionare would be taxed a total of $157 billion, in the first year.
Of that amount:
- $40 billion would be given directly as weekly payments to the middle 40% of Americans whose net worth is below $1 million.
- $78 billion would be given directly as weekly payments to the bottom 50% of Americans whose net worth is below $63,000.
- $23 billion would be distributed to cover costs for a Medicare for All plan.
- $15 billion would be spent on rebuilding community spaces offline, social clubs, and to rebuild the unions.
